NEED REVISION WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY?
The purpose of a bariatric surgery is to facilitate your weight loss and improve your health and the quality of your life. Although most weight loss surgeries have positive outcomes, there are times when the procedure has to be reversed due to complications, calling for revision weight loss surgery. Dr. Kukreja at Minimally Invasive Surgery Associates has performed numerous revisional bariatric operations, for a variety of reasons.
Bariatric Surgery, in their words
Most patients spend 1 night in the hospital, occasionally 2. Pain lasts a few days and around 90% of patients never need narcotic pain medication.
There is no hard age cut off. We operate as young as 18, but we certainly need to make sure people are healthy enough for surgery as they get older.
Most patients will lose 60-80% of their excess weight with surgery. The translates to 100-200 pounds for most of our patients. We’ve seen up to 400 lbs. of weight loss before.
Surgery is incredibly low risk as we ensure that our patients are healthy enough for an operation. In general, the risks of the procedure depend on the type of the operation and the specific patient. Vitamin deficiencies are rare.
